It’s been a busy few weeks, and we’ve got so much to share! Meet our first ambassador, catch up on two marches, grassroots campaigning, a brilliant Instagram Live, plus the incredible work created by Big Beach Art.

First up we’re proud to announce Tara McDonald as our first official Ambassador for Save the Dogs UK.

You’ll know Tara as the internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter behind global hits with icons like Armand Van Helden, David Guetta, Snoop Dogg and Afrojack. With 7 No.1 singles and 7 platinum certifications, she has an incredible voice, and now, she’s using it to speak up for those who can't.

Tara is joining our fight to raise awareness and create a safer, kinder future for dogs bred for laboratory research. Tara, thank you for standing with us, and the beagles. We are absolutely thrilled to have you on board and cannot wait to see the impact we will make together.

On 6 September, Beth held a beautiful vigil at MBR Acres to remember the thousands of dogs who have lost their lives. It was a deeply moving reminder that these dogs are not numbers. They are sentient beings, each deserving what every dog deserves: a name, love, kindness, a life without fear and the chance to simply be a dog. Together, supporters read poems, laid flowers and decorated stones, remembering every life lost and every dog still behind those fences. A huge thank you to Beth for creating such a special moment, and to Ben Richardson, who performed a beautiful song written especially for the puppies. We remember them. We fight for them. And we will keep going, #ForThePuppies

On 12 September, we stood alongside our friends in the US for the global March to Abolish Animal Testing, with campaigners travelling from Germany, Ireland and across the UK to stand up for the dogs. In Harrogate, the team spoke to so many people who were shocked to learn that beagles are still bred for animal testing. The response was so positive they’re already hoping to make it a regular event! A huge thank you to Lynne for organising, and to everyone who stopped, listened and stood with us. Every conversation opens eyes and gives the dogs a louder voice.

On 26 September, we’re marching again, this time from Huntingdon station to MBR Acres, this is the one that ends at the gates. We arrive as the Americans arrive at Marshall BioResources in New York — the same company, on the same day, on two sides of the Atlantic, we are standing in solidarity together. Please join us, we meet at 1pm, the route is around 5 miles and we even have a coach arranged to get you back to the station at the end. Seats are going fast, its first come first served and you can book through our WhatsApp community. So don't delay, join us on WhatsApp for more details.

These events are making a real difference, raising awareness and helping us build the public support we need to bring more MPs with us. We’d love to see an event happening every day while our US friends march to NYC, we’ve created a calendar and at time of writing 7 days are free. It doesn’t need to be anything big, just a walk with your dog, or a friend, or through your town centre. Grab a banner or placard, take some leaflets and get people talking. On 13 September, campaigners took the message to Margate station, speaking with passengers and finding lots of support from people who simply didn’t know about the beagles’ plight. The response was so encouraging that the team are heading back every day for the next two weeks. What amazing commitment. #forthepuppies.

To celebrate the March to Abolish Animal Testing and our UK and US communities coming together, Fred created this incredible piece on Bridlington Beach using just two rakes and a lot of talent! Last week, Olly caught up with Sarah Cawood for a brilliant chat about animal testing. Many will remember Sarah from Live & Kicking, but her career has spanned everything from The Girlie Show to Loose Women, the National Lottery and Richard & Judy. A huge dog lover, with her gorgeous sprocker Missy joining the chat, Sarah was really upset to learn that animals are still being bred and tested on in the UK.
