Campaign Newsletter · 29 September 2026 · 29 Sept 2026
Hi there,
We’re still riding the high from our incredible London march and on Saturday, we did it again! Our Huntingdon march to the gates of MBR Acres was another huge success, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it.
Also this week: discover new ways to get involved with Save the Dogs, find out where we need your help, join our session on how to lobby your MP and read about the ground breaking new laws being introduced in the US.
Growing our expertise
Meet our new Scientific Advisor, Dr André Ménache
We’re delighted to welcome Dr André Ménache, MRCVS, as Scientific Advisor to Save the Dogs UK. André is a veterinarian, zoologist and experienced scientific consultant who has spent decades advocating for evidence-based, human-relevant research and alternatives to animal experimentation. He is currently President of Antidote Europe and a Director of the Progressive Veterinary Association and was formerly President of Doctors and Lawyers for Responsible Medicine, bringing a wealth of scientific knowledge and experience to our campaign. André will help ensure our arguments are well evidenced as we support the move away from the use of dogs in research and champion modern science without suffering. It goes without saying we’re incredibly proud to have him on the team.
Five miles one mission
Huntingdon marched for the beagles
More than 200 people came together in Huntingdon on 26 September in solidarity with the international March to Abolish Animal Testing, and to stand up for the beagles of MBR Acres. We laughed, we cried, we chanted and, above all, we stood together with determination and hope. A huge thank you to our wonderful marshals Sasha, Brenda, Amy, Linda and Nessa, with Sasha also keeping us safe as our First Aider, and to Damon, our brilliant safety driver, who helped us navigate the busy road with care. Thank you too, to our photographers Carig @vegan_photographs_ and Stephen @stephen.noulton.photography for joining us again and capturing the emotion and spirit of such a special day, and to everyone who spoke, volunteered, travelled and marched alongside us. The energy continued on the bus, all the way back to Huntingdon Station! Every single person played a part and together, we gave the dogs a voice and showed just how much people care.

01 · Help us grow
Could you be the person we're looking for?
As Save the Dogs UK grows and our campaign gains momentum, we need more brilliant people to help us take the next step. We are looking for support across Events, Legal, Risk & Compliance, and Finance. Like all our roles, these are unpaid, but they are a real opportunity to use your skills to make a difference. We’d love to hear from people who can support us and fellow campaigners as we work towards our goal.
Legal -help us understand the legal and regulatory framework, including where there may be opportunities to challenge it, strengthen our campaign positions and arguments, support us with any contracts we undertake and support us as we consider our legal structure and the next steps we need to take as we grow.
Events -help us build an ambitious but achievable events strategy that grows public awareness and support. From marches and local events to festivals and other opportunities to reach new audiences, we want to make this campaign impossible to ignore.
Risk & Compliance -growth brings responsibility. We need someone to help us develop our structures, understand and manage risk, ensure we are compliant and make sure our activities remain safe, responsible and well run.
Finance -until now, we haven’t been a fundraising campaign. But supporters are already personally funding leaflets, T-shirts and other campaign materials, and our ambitions are growing. Events, stands, sound systems, screens and awareness activity all cost money. We need someone to help us understand the implications, establish the right financial processes and maintain clear, transparent and auditable accounts.
Could one of these roles be you, or someone you know? We’d love to hear from people who want to lend their skills, experience and energy to help us build an even stronger campaign for the dogs.
02 · New & Improved
Our website just got easier to use
We’re always looking for ways to make what we do better. Behind the scenes, Olly has been busy making improvements to the Save the Dogs UK website, so it’s quicker and easier to find what you need. You’ll now find:
Better mobile navigation - much easier when you’re on the go
A new search function – find what you’re looking for faster
Updated timelines and information – keeping you up to date with the campaign
A brand-new gallery – packed with photos from our marches and events. Take a look through the gallery and see if you can spot yourself!
03 · Your campaign needs you
Here's how you can help
Your MP. Your voice. Make it heard -if we want to create change, we need the people in power to hear us. That’s where your MP comes in. MPs represent their constituents, scrutinise government, debate the issues that matter, help make and change laws. Contacting your MP is one of the ways you can make sure they understand the issues you care about. You don’t have to do it alone, we can help you every step of the way. We already have templates to help you write that first letter. But did you know our MP team can also help you with the response? If the answer you receive doesn’t address your questions, we can also help you work out what to ask next and how to keep the conversation going. Send your letter through our website and we’ll even remind you after 21 days if you haven’t received a reply. Want to learn more? On 24 October @ 09:00, our MP team is running a practical coaching session covering the whole process. We’ll have three experienced people on hand, plenty of time for questions, and we’ll make it as simple as possible. We’ll also talk you through our MP strategy, and next steps for our campaign. The session will last for two hours, including plenty of time for questions.
04 · Every voice matters
Sign the petition
Please sign. Please share. Every signature matters. - Many of you will have seen Peter Egan’s petition calling for a parliamentary inquiry into the regulation of animal testing. We’re proud to support it and we want to help get it to 100,000 signatures, which is the threshold needed for it to be considered for debate in Parliament. So please, sign it, share it and ask your friends and family to sign too. Every signature adds another voice. This is a key opportunity to shine a light on the suffering of animals used in research and those bred for it at facilities like MBR Acres, and to push for a kinder, more modern future. Let’s get it to 100,000. For every animal who deserves better.

In the press home & away
Save the Dogs UK was on TV! Save the Dogs have done their first TV interview! Hazel spoke to That’s TV Cambridgeshire, talking about our Huntingdon march and the MBR beagles. This is a huge moment for us. For the first time, Save the Dogs UK will be on TV! And even more excitingly, media outlets are now proactively approaching us because they want to cover what we’re doing. That is testament to every single one of you who is marching, sharing, writing, campaigning and speaking up. Our voice is growing, people are listening and our campaign is being taken seriously. Every piece of coverage helps us reach more people, raise awareness of the MBR beagles and build the support we need to secure the permanent closure of MBR Acres.
The US lead the way There are more encouraging signs of change in the US. The National Institutes for Health (NIH) is accelerating investment in human-based research, has closed its internal beagle laboratory and is now supporting the rehoming of research animals. The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are also taking steps to reduce reliance on animals, while the proposed COMPACT Act could further restrict federal funding for research involving live dogs and cats. Importantly for us, Marshall BioResources is now working with Kindness Ranch and Homes for Animal Heroes to rehome beagles from its New York facility. This is real progress. It shows that another future is possible for these dogs and gives us a powerful precedent to push for the same change here in the UK.
