Read this before you upload anything

We can promise you what we do with your material. We cannot promise you what your phone, your employer’s network or Google already know. So here is exactly where the gaps are, rather than a badge saying “100% anonymous”.

  • Your files go to Google, and Google sees your connectionThe upload runs from your device straight into our storage on Google Drive, which is the only way a multi-gigabyte video is practical at all. That means Google’s servers see your IP address, and so does ours. Use the Tor Browser or a VPN you trust, on a network that is not your home or your work.
  • Your files carry hidden informationPhotos and videos routinely embed GPS coordinates, the exact second they were taken, and a serial number unique to the device that took them. We can rename a file for you; we cannot strip what is inside it before it leaves your device. Turn off location in your camera app before recording, and consider re-encoding or screen-recording the footage first.
  • Not from a work device or a work networkEmployer-managed laptops and phones commonly log every site visited and every file opened, and that log survives deleting your history. The same goes for site wifi.
  • Do not tell anyoneNot a colleague, not a friend, not a group chat. People are identified far more often by having mentioned it than by anything technical.

What we do at our end

  • ▶ We store no IP address, no browser fingerprint and no account against your submission. There is no login here and we have not built one.
  • ▶ Your material lands in private storage that a handful of named people can open, and every single time one of them opens it, that is recorded.
  • ▶ Nothing gets published without stripping metadata first, and nothing that could identify you gets published at all.
  • ▶ We will not contact you unless you asked us to, and we cannot contact you if you did not.
  • ▶ This campaign is independent. We are not acting for, or reporting to, any other organisation.

Every field on this form is optional except the sum at the bottom. Tell us as much or as little as you want to.

Be careful here. If only four people could have written your answer, it names you. “I have been inside” is enough.

Do you want us to be able to reach you?

Good. This is the safest option, and it is the default.
