In solidarity with the March to Abolish Animal Testing

Two marches.
Two countries.
One company.

On 12 September a march sets off from Albany, New York and walks 207 miles over 14 days to the gates of Marshall BioResources. We are walking with them — London on the day they set off, Huntingdon on the day they arrive, at the gates of the same company.

The other side of the Atlantic

207 miles. 14 days. On foot.

The March to Abolish Animal Testing walks from Albany, New York to Marshall BioResources, North Rose, New York, arriving on 26 September. Marshall BioResources owns MBR Acres. The Americans finish at its gates in New York on the same day we finish at its gates in Cambridgeshire.

That is why our second march finishes where it does. At around the hour the Americans reach the gates in New York, we reach the gates in Cambridgeshire. One company, one afternoon, two countries.

Our first London march, on the day the Americans set off from Albany. We start at the Brown Dog — the memorial that exists because of a fight over vivisection in this city more than a century ago — and we walk it to Parliament.

    Make and decorate a paper or card collar for a laboratory beagle — a name, a message, words of hope. Bring it with you and it goes on the memorial beside MBR Acres.

    Dress for the weather. This is several hours outdoors on pavement, and there is no shelter at the far end.

The Americans are on the road for all fifteen days of that window, and every one of them now has a UK walk on it. That does not close the list. A second walk in another town on the same date is more people on the street, and it goes on the timeline beside the first.

It does not have to be big and it does not have to be a march. Four of you walking your high street with placards is a day on the timeline. Tell us where and when, and once we have read it we will pin it so people near you can find it.
