Campaign Newsletter  ·  August 2026 · 03 Aug 2026

Hi there,

Thank you for standing with us. There is real progress happening behind the scenes right now — holding the Home Office to account, building the legal case, and growing the alliance around this campaign. Here is where things stand.

Our mission

To secure the permanent closure of MBR Acres.

Ending the breeding of dogs for laboratory research — and making sure the site can never again be used for animal exploitation.

Strategic objective: to make the operation of MBR Acres politically, socially, commercially and regulatorily unsustainable.

01 · The political front

MP & Home Office news

Our research and investigations are yielding results. The latest:

  • The science is clear. Modern human-based methods can often provide better information than tests on dogs.

  • Legal options are being explored. Existing powers may already allow the Home Secretary to restrict dog toxicity testing — without new legislation.

  • MBR Acres is under increasing scrutiny. Concerns are growing about expansion plans, despite the government’s commitment to phase out animal testing.

  • We’re investigating the fate of surplus dogs — including whether healthy dogs could be rehomed under the existing ASPA framework.

  • Weaknesses in the system. We have highlighted significant concerns over monitoring — and the lack of CCTV.

  • Support is growing. More MPs, legal experts and organisations are engaging with these issues.

Two minutes, no account needed — our tool finds your MP and writes the letter with you.

02 · Stronger together

Collaboration & rehoming

We’ve connected with the Campaign to Ban Animal Testing & Research, who have been generous with their support, data and resources. A small group is now working alongside them, and we’re already gaining access to valuable material.

Our beagle team is also investigating the feasibility of rehoming surplus MBR beagles. We’re studying successful releases in the United States — including Ridglan Farms, where more than two thousand beagles were freed — to understand whether a similar model could work here.
